Ashely Madison Data Breech

25 Gigabytes of Private Information Stolen

The popular dating website for married people Ashley Madison was attacked by a group of hackers known as the Impact Team on July 21, 2015. The group ordered Avid Life Media, the owner of Ashley Madison and a similar site called Established Men, to take down both of these websites or they would release user information. Avid Life refused to do so, and thought they could protect their website, but this proved to be wrong as about 60 gigabytes of user information was stolen, and about 25 gigabytes of it released.

The released of such private information destroyed many families and caused the lives of many victims to be completely destroyed, lots of people going as far as to commit suicide. Affected people filed a $567 million dollar lawsuit against Avid Life Media for their damages.
